GR Fall Action Challenge

Date:
Site: Grand Rapids Chess Center
Score: 1/4

This was my second official event, and the first where all the games were played contiguously.

There were five rounds played at G/30 (the so-called “Action” time control, which borders between the official Quick and Regular categories) with a five-second delay. I went in hoping for one, maybe two victories; and I did achieve that, though I'd have preferred my one win be against a similar-leveled adult rather than a small child. Alas, each game saw my seemly-trademark “pretty-good play with one or two really dumb mistakes which end up costing the game.”

I had a bye the third round, which proved fortuitous as I was a few minutes late getting back from lunch. There ought to have been an hour break between rounds two and three, but round one got off to a late start and the organizers wanted to get back on schedule.
